Ryan said he and his book don't give advice. He compares monogamy to vegetarianism which is challenging and against our nature. He said families are torn apart by adultery, but if they understood human nature, they wouldn't be so wounded by the act. It is giving people a realistic baseline.

The celebrated physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking, severely impaced by Lou Gehrig's disease, has been described as uniquely incorporated into the services of machines and other people who aid him - a sort of pre-singularity era being.
But in another version of Hawking’s story, we notice that he is more “incorporated” than any other scientist, let alone human being. He is delegated across numerous other bodies: technicians, students, assistants, and of course, machines. Hawking’s “genius,” far from being the product of his mind alone, is in fact profoundly located, material, and collective in nature.

"God Particle" scientist Peter Higgs (of the Higgs boson) slammed biologist and rabid atheist Richard Dawkins of being anh hatheistic fundamentalist. Higgs, himself a non-believer, nevertheless has not problem wiolding scientific and religiou beliefs.
"What Dawkins does too often is to concentrate his attack on fundamentalists. But there are many believers who are just not fundamentalists," Higgs said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo. "Fundamentalism is another problem. I mean, Dawkins in a way is almost a fundamentalist himself, of another kind."

Roboy, a new humonid robot, is set to be "delivered" in nine months.
Meet Roboy, “one of the most advanced humanoid robots,” say researchers at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich.
Their 15 project partners and over 40 engineers and scientists are constructing Roboy as a tendon-driven robot modeled on human beings (robots usually have their motors in their joints, giving them that “robot” break-dance look), so it will move almost as elegantly as a human.

This view of Earth at night is a cloud-free view from space as acquired by the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership Satellite (Suomi NPP). A joint program by NASA and NOAA, Suomi NPP captured this nighttime image by the satellite's Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). The day-night band on VIIRS detects light in a range of wavelengths from green to near infrared and uses filtering techniques to observe signals such as city lights, gas flares, and wildfires. This new image is a composite of data acquired over nine days in April and thirteen days in October 2012. It took 312 satellite orbits and 2.5 terabytes of data to get a clear shot of every parcel of land surface.
This video uses the Earth at night view created by NASA's Earth Observatory with data processed by NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center and combined with a version of the Earth Observatory's Blue Marble: Next Generation.

Elon Musk, the billionaire founder and CEO of the private spaceflight company SpaceX, wants to help establish a Mars colony of up to 80,000 people by ferrying explorers to the Red Planet for perhaps $500,000 a trip.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports a drop in abortion rates in the US of 5%.
To come up with reliable year-to-year comparisons, the CDC used the numbers from 43 states and two cities - those that have been sending in data consistently for at least 10 years. The researchers found that abortions per 1,000 women of child-bearing age fell from about 16 in 2008 to roughly 15 in 2009. That translates to nearly 38,000 fewer abortions in one year.
Mississippi had the lowest abortion rate, at 4 per 1,000 women of child-bearing age. The state also had only a couple of abortion providers and has the nation's highest teen birth rate. New York, second to California in number of abortion providers, had the highest abortion rate, roughly eight times Mississippi's.

Marshall said it's a Category 2 storm and that this is only the first act. He said this hybrid, large storm - a hurricane on steroids that will sustain. He said that our large infrastructure that we rely on is making these storms very expensive. He recommended staying inside and to be patient as it is just making its turn to make landfall.

The first mother-daughter uterus transplants have taken place in Sweden.
A team of more than 10 surgeons from Gothenburg University, who had trained for years, completed the pioneering procedure “without complications”.
The women will now wait a year for the two wombs to settle before doctors attempt to implant embryos. Both have already undergone IVF and the resultant embryos are being stored in the deep freeze.

Laura Ingraham hosted astronaut Buzz Aldrin on the passing of Neil Armstrong.
Aldrin said it is a sad moment when a comrade such as Neil Armstrong passes on. He said that there had been quite a few alarms as the Eagle was landing on the Sea of Tranquility. He said Armstrong took over and steadily managed the touchdown. He recounted Armstrong's background as a test pilot and as the commander on the Gemini project.
Ingraham commented on how Aldrin and Armstrong's humility characterized their generation's heroes. He referenced the Apollo 10 mission in which Frank Borman read from the Bible on Christmas Eve. He noted it was an antidote to the chaos in the nation at that time. Aldrin himself had a communion wafer and wine before he went out on the moon.
Aldrin said he and the other astronauts over time. He left the astronaut program and went back to the Air Force. He described Armstrong as a very determined and determined man who was modest and cool under pressure.
