Laura Ingraham hosted Rep; Robert Aderholt.
Aderholt commented on the onerous regulations in the school lunch program promoted by First Lady Michelle Obama and stated that since it is expensive and difficult to meet the goals, his committee is granting a one year waiver. He favors a balance between healthy eating and tasty fare.
Ingraham commented on the emotional appeal of healthy eating for children, but that it gets to be heavy handed treatment for the issue. Aderholt pointed out the onerous rules on even healthy foods and questions the expense and wisdom of even limiting healthy foods.
Aderholt said even in California children are throwing away school lunches and that members of both parties are exasperated with this program. He and Ingraham pointed out at Sidwell Friends where the Obama duaghters go to school, there are junk food choices.
