Laura Ingraham hosted Dr. Michio Kaku, author of The Future of the Mind.
Kaku said one goal is to create a brain pacemaker for dementia patients where the hippocampus which is destroyed in such diseases as Alzheimers. This is the part of the brain that is destroyed with Alzheimers.
Kaku said the European Union are investing a huge amount into brain research and the US a smaller amount. He said that mental illness can't be cured as the brain is not wired correctly. He said the brain is the most complex entity in the universe. He noted the Pentagon is doing research to help wounded veterans by augmenting the brain to the limbs to promote movement.
Kaku said nano probes are being put in the brain to help with diseases such as Parkinson's disease. Certain chronic depressions can be helped by these deep brain stimulations. He spoke of a project MKUltra the CIA came up with after the Korean War to investigate brainwashing which failed due to lack of knowledge of the brain.
