Laura Ingraham hosted Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.
Paul commented on the CIA allegedly spying on Congress. He stated it's a terrible breach for the overseers of the CIA to be spied on by the CIA. Ingraham noted the knee jerk reaction that uber surveillance is needed and Paul said that the US is spending too much time monitoring law abiding citizens and not focusing on probable suspects. He noted Presidnet Obama got rid of such a program that President Bush nad put in place in favor of overall spying.
Paul grew up in a Reagan supporting household that supports peace through strength which will always be his stance as a public servant. He feels his foreign policy is mischaracterized as isolationist.
Paul said there are methods of tying trade to behavior not only on trade but on human rights as well. He said there is good and bad to the rise in China as when countries are more prosperous we tend not to go to war with such nations. Ingraham took issue with this notion, feeling trade hasn't been a great success for the middle class. Paul said there are ways to create good paying jobs such as freeing up energy production to counter Russia and Middle East production. He would lower corporate and citizens' taxes. Ingraham pointed to Sourth Korea gaining on the US due to our latest trade deal with them. Paul said jobs go where money and jobs are welcome. He also decried overregulation.
Paul said all immigration reform needs to be predicated on border control.
