Laura Ingraham hosted Meme Roth and Paul Campos.
Roth said that while the government may not be the best solution to obesity, that given school lunches are an integral part of many children's nutrition, the government involvement is important. She also mentioned the cost to society of preventable diseases are not dealt with.
Campos said the rate of childhood and adult obesity has remained flat in the US and abroad and that Americans are healthier now than they've ever been. He said affluence makes peope healthy and heavier. He said it's more important to be affluent than thin.
Roth said life expectancy hasn't changed much and that the government's involvement in curbing tobacco has had a major impact. She said having children's weights lower is great.
Campos said that despite all the emphasis on dieting hasn't scared people into losing weight.
