Laura Ingraham hosted Jennifer Senior, author of All Joy, No Fun.
Senior commented on the contrast between child rearing in the past where we have helicopter parents versus in former times where children were more independent. She said that children of helicopter parents are less resiliant. She said up until recently children worked for the family and now children's job is shuttling between after school programmed activities which parents feel compelled to enroll their children in. She noted that childreading has been deferred and thus a lot is expected of the child as reflections of the parents. Senior said it's not fair to parents or children.
Senior and Ingraham discussed the pros and cons of deferring childbearing with parents' physical peak versus earning potential.
