Laura Ingraham hosted Heather Bresch, CEO of Mylan on generic drugs from foreign countries.
Bresch said importation of foreign drugs for years and that we didn't think about governance and safety along with the free market. She said her company would be held to a high standard that doesn't exist globally. She added that the FDA doesn't have the resources to even keep up on US, let alone foreign countries.
Bresch said almost half of the drugs we take are made in foreign countries. She believes Americans are the best shoppers in the US as we want value for our oney, but with drugs, this is impossible as there is no transparency. She feels our government enables this by placing fines on US companies that they can inspect versus foreign countries where the same standards aren't enforced. She said the playing field is very unbalanced and that most foreign nations are very protectionist which disadvantages US companies. Ingraham and Bresh agreed that the US government is not helping the US. She said one hundred percent of antibiotics come from overseas. Bresch said we trust but don't verify.
