Laura Ingraham hosted psychiatrist Dr. Charles Sophy.
Sophy agreed with Ingraham that celebrity drug addicts are encouraged by a culture of lawlessness that is glamorized. He added that the celebrities aren't called out and forced into treatment. Ingraham said she'd like to see an honest coverage of their demise.
Sophy said brain chemistry is altered by anything we ingest. He said heroin is a opeiate that is the most addicting of drugs he's dealt with. He noted it's a cumulative effect on the user. He explianed that crystal meth is very addicting. He said that these drugs cut off blood supply to the brain, face, etc. that causes teeth to fall out.
Sophy said there is a genetic component to this that makes some people more vulnerable. He said going to rehab isn't a cure but a pause and that care needs to be taken every day with a solid program and discipline.
Sophy agreed with Ingraham that the media glamorizes and contributes to this issue.
