Laura Ingraham hosted Wayne LaPierre.
LaPierre said NRA membership has never been more important and that President Obama is set to limit the Second Amendment. He said the battle on background checks is basically a speed bump for law abiding citizens while criminals will go along their merry way. Ingraham challenged by saying background checks are popular and LaPierre said that when the public is educated, they change their minds. He pointed out that HIPPA laws will make it impossible for those who are mentally ill to be listed in a database of those who shouldn't have guns. He also said the expense and waste of police resources will make it unwieldy as the gun laws on the books are barely enforced.
LaPierre said enforcing current laws, fixing the mental health system and putting security personnel in schools would make the US safer.
