John Lott on "The Laura Ingraham Show"

Laura Ingraham guest host Raymond Arroyo spoke with John Lott, author of "At the Brink".

Lott said that when guns are banned, the murder rate rises.  He said there are three types of guns: assault rifles, semi-automatics and single loading guns.  He said rifle bullets go faster than handguns and thus one would have to ban all rifles.  

Lott said someone who is going to plan a violent event are very hard to stop.  He said there are criminals on islands that ban guns who get them and commit crimes.  He said there are states that essentially have bans similar to those recommended by gun control advocates and still have higher crime rates.  

Lott feels something has to be done or he wouldn't put up with the abuse he gets.  He said these assaults take place in places where guns are banned, including here in the United States.  He noted the Aurora shooter went to a theater which banned concealed guns.  

Lott said the Republicans will get nowhere when meeting with President Obama on the sequester.  He said every family has about $200,000 in federal debt.  He noted that Obama thus far hasn't followed through on his promise to reduce the debt, even by one percent.  He said the countries that have the most debt have the slowest economic growth.
