Laura Ingraham hosted Michelle Rhee, author of "Radical: Fighting to Put Students First".
Rhee said she said at first she didn't buy into the opportunity scholarships program in DC, but after looking into it, she became very supportive as she realized the struggles minority parents go through to get a chance via voucher programs. She said her job isn't to protect the system but to get what children need.
Rhee said teachers unions are doing what they should do and that she got into her current post to advocate for students as strongly as unions fight for educators' rights. She spoke about how she laid off teachers by quality rather than seniority and called out politicians who complained about her decision.
Rhee strongly advocates rigorous teacher evaluations which she deems key to a a strong school. She is a Democrat and says both parties can come together on this issue for children.
