Laura Ingraham guest host Raymond Arroyo spoke to James Pethokoukis.
Pethokoukis said there are some small studies that support pre-school education for disadvantaged children. Arroyo cited another study that said pre-school programs are detrimental. Pethokoukis said it would be best to have vouchers so there isn't a one child fits all policy.
Pethokoukis said Center for American Progress pan that Obama is modeling his pre-kindergarten program would cost about $10 billion a year and said the cost-benefit comparisons should be made before embarking on a massive program such as this. He said the president will have to borrow money to finance this effort. Arroyo said the states may end up picking up the freight for this program eventually.
Pethokoukis said if he were president he would campaign all the time to promote his programs with the secondary goal of campaigning for the 2014 midterm elections.
Pethokoukis said the minimum wage increase would be a job killer as it benefits teenagers and second family incomes rather than abutting the primary income earner.
