President Obama will accept corporate donations to finance his 2013 inauguration, given that private donors are tapped out from his expensive 2012 campaign. Groups such as "Private Citizen" criticized Obama going back on principles.
This will be a more modest affair with fewer balls, but the elites will get their access.
The panel did not release a schedule. But officials told donors during a conference call on Friday afternoon that there would be just three official inaugural balls — a candlelight ball for members of Mr. Obama’s national finance committee, a military ball and a large presidential ball — down from 10 official balls in 2009, according to one person who listened to the call.
