Vice-President Joe Biden accepted his nomination for vice-president and gave an earnest, long speech in defense of and testimonial to Barack Obama, despite the embarassment of being given a non-primetime slot which was given to President Clinton Wednesday night. He made a few gaffes (wrong night for FLOTUS speech) and stating his father's affection for Obama whom he didn't live to know. He highlighted the auto bailout and the bin Laden incidents to appeal to middle class, especially in Michigan and Ohio.
It would seem Hillary has the edge over Joe in 2016 sweepstakes - at least from the White House's POV.
