Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey delivered a rousing speech to the Republican National Convention. Starting with his childhood describing his mother as a truth teller, later weaving it into his later life as a husband, father and politician. He distinguished between being loved and being respected. He delineated the differences between the two parties and spoke about a second American century, saying Mitt Romney would be the man to set America on this path.
Christie set down a marker for himself as a nominee in 2016 with this speech as Barack Obama did in 2004 for the Democrats.
