"Dreams From My Father": Is "A Million Little Pieces" of Presidential Memoirs?

Ben Smith of Buzzfeed, in his review of David Maraniss's new biography of President Obama's early life entitled "Barack Obama: The Story" suggests there is a lot of historical fiction in Obama's "Dreams From My Father".  In short, it could be said that the Obama's memoir is the presidential equivalent of James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces", the Oprah book club pick that got debunked and slammed.

Maraniss’s Barack Obama: The Story punctures two sets of falsehoods: The family tales Obama passed on, unknowing; and the stories Obama made up. The 672-page book closes before Obama enters law school, and Maraniss has promised another volume, but by its conclusion I counted 38 instances in which the biographer convincingly disputes significant elements of Obama’s own story of his life and his family history.
