Laura Ingraham hosted New York Times physical education columnist Gretchen Reynolds, author of "The First 20 Minutes".
Reynolds said that Americans sit for up to ten hours a day and that things change biologically in one's metabolism. She said that if one takes more than a few days without exercise, negative effects kick in. She said it's a vicious cycle where if one sits, the bad effects start and then it is harder to get up and move. This leads to weight gain, diabetes, etc.. Reynolds said that just exercising and then sitting for long periods of time cancels out the benefits of exercise. She suggested putting an app or alarm on to remind one to get up and move. She added that it helps mood, memory and general health.
