Laura Ingraham hosted Steve Forbes.
Forbes said that there is good pressure now on Romney to articulate the conservative alternative to President Obama's economic policies. Forbes said Romney should be what he is not, but must come across as a principled man of substance. Romney implied that when he spoke of the very poor, he implied that being poor is a static, not fluid situation. He needs to emphasize the fluidity of the economy when conservative economic principles are followed. He suggested that Romney review some of the writings put forth during the welfare reform debates of the 1990s.
Ingraham commented on how the economy isn't improving and that the GOP has to make the right arguments. Forbes said there can be some small bump ups that people falsely claim are improvements. He said the GOP must point out why these arguments are false. Forbes said Rick Santorum finally hit Mitt Romney substantively on Romneycare and hopes Gingrich does likewise so that if Romney is nominated, he will be capable of taking incoming attacks. He said Romney's economic plan sounds like a Power Point presentation and needs to simplify his message.
