Rick Santorum tried to make lemons out of lemonade with his third place finish in South Carolina - making a monkey out of the evangelical poobahs who met in Texas to pick a conservative values candidate just before their original choice of Rick Perry in August flamed out. They were clearly torn between Gingrich who was surging and Santorum who had a better record in the family values department by their estimation. The evangelical vote went to Gingrich.
Santorum replayed a lot of his earlier messaging narratives in this speech, praise and slam Gingrich and repositioned himself for some role after the primary race.
