"Meet The Press" on November 1st with David Gregory featured Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithnew and Obama campaign operative David Plouffe, author of the new book "The Audacity to Win".
Geithner sidestepped or just refused to answer a number of questions - about raising taxes to take care of the deficit and health care, for example and was vague on the future of the economy, reciting talking points no doubt well rehearsed before this national outing so as not to provide grist for the pundits this week - and to rock Wall Street. Citizens should get no comfort out of his ideas on job growth - but seeing how his cronies from New York's financial district - and party donors are taken care of - let them eat cake!
The smoother Plouffe simply filibustered through his answers - and Gregory let him without a challenge.
The roundtable revolved around Afghanistan with Andrea Mitchell who had been in Pakistan with Secretary of State Clinton and did the administration and her network's bidding in not mentioning some of the negative blowback Clinton received with her comments and drones attacking civilians. Jim Miklaszewski , NBC Pentagon correspondent, noted from an earlier telecast that the Taliban is even more empowered throughout 80% of Afghanistan - more than they were at the war's beginning. Jon Krakauer, author of "Where Men Win Glory" talked about General Stanley McChrystal's role in the cover up of the true cause of Army Ranger Pat Tillman's death.
