Laura Ingraham hosted Brion McClanahan, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Founding Fathers, on the biggest misconceptions about America's founders and how the Fourth of July came to be.
McClanahan said that the Founding Fathers are very important today as we can't talk about our government without a thorough knowledge of these people. He hoped with his book to show how important the Founding Fathers are. Ingraham noted that the book is easy to read and very accessible as well as being meaty.
McClanahan said students learn trivia about people such as George Washington. He said that Washington was great because of how he felt about government and how the US should defend freedom and promoted independence. He said Washington was true to his word, was an excellent horseman and a man of integrity.
He said that it isn't conclusive that Thomas Jefferson fathered Sally Hemings child which is one of the many myths he looks into. He also said that Alexander Hamilton didn't have a gay lover and that men often wrote in flowery language during that time.
