"Meet The Press" with David Gregory on May 24th featured the ubiquitous former Speaker Newt Gingrich along with Illinois Democratic Senator Dick Durbin to joust over the Obama-Cheney dueling speeches this week and other matters of national security. Ironically, Gregory appeared to goad Durbin more, including asking him if he would welcome detainees into his home state of Illinois - Durbin being in the rare position of having to back President Obama's Gitmo position versus his own party at this time - and against most of the American people. It was also noted that Obama hasn't basically strayed far from President Bush's policies, as much as he tries to excoriate him and his administration.
The follow up panel with National Review's Rich Lowry, NPR's Michele Norris, NBC's Chuck Todd and the Washington Post's Eugene Robinson was also surprisingly less tilted than usual.

Meet The Press hasn't just jumped the shark. It has dropped off the ramp into the shark tank and sunk to the bottom. Horrible guests. Horrible interviewer. My family has better discussions over breakfast...with more facts, less B.S., and more insight. Bang the gong! This show is toast.
