"Face The Nation" with Bob Schieffer featured General Colin Powell after a contentious week in which Powell's political loyalties were batted about.
Given that former VP Cheney stated he thought that Powell had left the GOP on a previous "Face The Nation", it was a delicious opener. Powell stated his loyalty to the GOP, despite having voted for President Obama in 2008. He said he felt the GOP should be more inclusive than it has been or it will be watching the world go by on a narrow base.
Powell revealed that he voted for Kennedy, Johnson and Carter and asked if all the people who voted for Obama did it on the basis of race. He said he preferred a Jack Kemp stype GOP approach. Powell noted that Obama didn't handle the closing of Gitmo well by asking for the money to close the base without a plan. He said he has talked to Obama about closing Gitmo. Powell said he was aware of the enhanced interrogation techniques but that they hadn't been used since 2003.
