The AP reports that President Barack Obama got friendly with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega - who returned the favor with an hour long diatribe on the evils of imperialism wreaked on Latin America - and Cuba's Raul Castro.
Considering that this is a continent that Obama had hardly visited before this summit, Obama was remarkably quick to diss his own country once again to curry favor abroad.
Chavez also gave Obama the book, " "The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent" by Eduardo Galeano, after Obama used the familiar form of greeting "Como estas?" to Chavez.
