Laura Ingraham hosted Jake Tapper, senior national correspondent for ABC News, on whether Obama will end up getting ensnared in the Blago trap.
Tapper said there are questions about who might have been talking to Governor Blagojevich. He also wonders how grounded in reality the governor is. Ingraham asked whether it is time for Obama to step up and answer questions and Tapper said he should, given his promises of transparency. Ingraham said that the Obama's website to ask questions has tamped down any of these scandal questions. Tapper said that most of the flagged questions at the site were reasonable. Tapper said the Illinois legislature or the US Senate can make sure that any Blagojevich pick to replace Obama won't ever get seated.
Tapper said it might be interesting for Obama to give a major speech on political corruption and that there is the question of whether good people go bad or if bad people are attracted to politics.
Tapper said that Carol Mosley Braun sold out her vote to Tom Daschle in the 1990's and Hillary Clinton also worked out deals to retire her campaign debt - and it was noted that Blagojevich may not have proposed anything too much further out than those situations.
