Since President-elect Obama and has quit the Senate, he will conveniently not have to cast votes and bear any responsibility for a potential bailout of Detroit auto makers or vote on a stimulus package. Biden will be following suit - even as the Senate will have more Republicans in this lame duck session to block legislation that the Democrats may propose. Apparently they don't want the mark of legislation they might vote on not passing - wieners that they are - and the optics might just not be quite right. In addition, Obama may not have his cast of advisors surrounding him - he may actually have to decide something on his own.
And the unions that contributed so heavily to his campaign will just have to wait.
