Ingraham Factors Hillary, Talk Radio, Gay Dating, Markets, Rosie & Barbara
Laura Ingraham filled in on "The Factor" for Bill O'Reilly on November 21st and her "Talking Points Memo" was a response to "First step to GOP recovery" by Mort Kondracke in Roll Call who called for the GOP to ignore talk radio stars Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Ingraham. Ingraham followed up with a segment with Kondracke in which she noted that talk radio hosts are conservatives, not advisors to the GOP - but that the party does best when it adhers to conservative values. Kondracke said that the party is slipping with certain regional and demographic groups while Ingraham argued that the McCain-Palin ticket was a more moderate one and still got beaten.
Geoff Mullard of Iraq Veterans Against the War and Mathew Littman, a Democratic consultant, discussed the addition of Senator Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State to the Obama administration. Littman said it was a great pick as Clinton is experienced, has a big ego - enough to deal with dictators and foreign leaders. Mullard said that she was for the war in Iraq and in a sense Obama is betraying the people who supported him from the beginning by picking someone who supported the war.
Lis Wiehl and Wendy Long of the Judicial Confirmation Network discussed that collapse of Attorney General Michael Mukasey at a Federalist Society speech in which he warned about abandoning the tools in place that have kept the nation safe in the war on terror. Long sided with Mukasey's point of view and expressed concern about the details surrounding the closing of Guantanamo Bay and the release of detainees while Wiehl said that Guantanmo has been a problem due to the impression it sends to the world about the US and how it conflicts with recent Supreme Court decisions.
Ingraham talked to attorney Geoffrey Nathan about gay activists forcing eHarmony.com to include gays in their dating pool, even though there are plenty of gay dating websites. Nathan said eHarmony wasn't forced to accept gay applicants and chose to settle instead while Ingraham pointed out that a private business shouldn't be forced to adjust their rules in this way.
Ric Edelman, author of "The Lies About Money", on the crisis in the economy. Edelman said the bailout is working, as distasteful as it is, and that Timothy Geithner is a good choice for Secretary of the Treasury. Both he and Ingraham expressed concerns about what to do about the auto industry.
Tom O'Neil of In Touch on Rosie O'Donnell and Barbara Walters snit. Ingraham noted that with all the world's challenges, this is rather a pathetic attempt at attention while O'Neil said people get off on this sort of silliness.
Here is Rosie O'Donnell responding to Walters:
