"McCain Mocks Obama Fundraiser With Streisand" from the Washington Post reports that Senator John McCain pointed out that Barack Obama got the second highest amount of donations from the disgraced honchos of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to Senator Chris Dodd, didn't vote for the stimulus package and while talking about how bad the economy is, was out with Barbra Streisand in Beverly Hills along with other celebrities.
“He talked about siding with the people … just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbara Streisand and his celebrity friends,” McCain said. "Let me tell you, my friends, there is no place I’d rather be than here, with the working men and women of Ohio.”
- But McCain got them cheering by altering the address to get personal with Obama, whom he said saw in the nation's economic crisis "a political opportunity.''
- "This is not a time for political opportunism,'' McCain said. "This is a time for leadership.''
McCain also used a little selective history in saying that while Obama praises the economic stimulus Congress provided, "he didn't even show up to vote.''
vote was taken.
Senator McCain on Obama's supporters:
Democrats created the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac problems years ago, in a well intentioned but failed effort to allow low income groups to buy houses. They stopped ALL eforts at reform until it was too late. Now they are trying to blame Bush, McCain and Republicans, everyone but themselves. That's the Gods truth and here is the proof:
