Larry King Promotes Obama To Ahmadinejad - He'd Like To Visit Los Angeles
"Exclusive: Ahmadinejad with Larry King" from CNN reports on the hour long interview Larry King conducted with Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is in the United States - sort of - to attend the UN Assembly proceedings.
King queried Ahmadinejad on a wide range of topics as the wily Ahmadinejad proceeded to portray himself as seeking peace, dialogue and to spin his fiery rhetoric as the most reasonable reactions to world events.
King tried to get Ahmadinejad to give his preference for the US presidential elections, but Ahmadinejad demurred. He, however, said he preferred a quick timetable for US troop withdrawal from Iraq. King later asked about Obama's position on dialogue with Iran - seeming that King was positioning Obama as more Iran friendly.
Ahmadinejad said he wished he had talked to Governor Sarah Palin when they were both mayors - and in an arch response said that the Jewish state should have been in Europe - or Alaska. He defended his country's animosity toward Israel's Zionists due to their treatment of the Palestinians, falling back on that card that is the favorite of many in the Arab world. He also defended his country's attitudes toward homosexuality by saying that the country is guided by Sharia law which is averse to homosexuality - and that giving rights to gays is denying rights to the majority.
Ahmadinejad said he'd like to visit Los Angeles, California - clearly it would seem the part of the US that might welcome him with open arms.
