Barack Obama: Change In What He Believes In
"Barack Obama's policy switches are giving the Left whiplash" from Gerard Baker notes that that Barack Obama's change theme seems to be part of his stances on issues to suit the time and place - "refinements", "nuances" and being "misrepresented" when questioned on all of these changes in what he believes in.
From his FISA stance to sue telecoms for cooperating with the government, to his walking back on his timeline for withdrawing troops in Iraq, to easing his NAFTA opposition to his claims to support the Supreme Court handgun ruling to his Social Security math to his AIPAC promises to Jewish voters that he walked back on to backing out of federal public financing of his campaign to stating that his campaign is mostly small donors when it is not to his big tent outreach that was challenged when two women in headscarves were removed from being photographed near him.
As Baker points out, it is clearly evident that Obama is interested in winning the election for himself - and will have the job of checking a Democrat Congress if he ever wants to be re-elected. He may sufficiently alienate the base that the electorate in total may see Obama as the epitome of what he claims not to be - change for me.
