"Revealed: The time capsule DVD left on Mars for future Martians ... that includes 'Mars Attacks' and 'War of the Worlds'" from UK Daily Mail reports that a special DVD has been left for potential Martians to enjoy - with greetings from science fiction giants Arthur C. Clarke and Ray Bradbury. It is a gift from Louis Friendman and the Planetary Society to the Martians.
The disc - being described as the first interplanetary library - is made of a special silica glass designed to last hundred, if not thousands, of years into the future.
It also holds a collection of Mars-themed artwork, including a poster from a 1936 Flash Gordon film Mars Attacks the World and Orson Welles's 1938 radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. Patrick Stewart as Star Trek's Captain Picard also makes an appearance on the DVD.
