Ingraham On Factor: Obamas, Border Fences, McCain, UN Human Rights Investigation

Laura Ingraham guest hostd "The Factor" for Bill O'Reilly.  The "Talking Points Memo" centered around Barack Obama's recent comments in Oregon where he said people should have to give up SUVs, eat less so that other countries wouldn't resent our activities' effects on climate change.  Ingraham compared Obama to Jimmy Carter and his failed efforts in his administration during that energy crisis.  Ingraham asked who would be there to speak for the American people in the White House - and it doesn't appear on this count to be Barack Obama.

Ingraham and Karl Rove reviewed the controversy over the editing of President Bush's remarks by NBC's Richard Engle that changed the content and context of what he had to say about his "appeasement" remarks to the Israeli Knesset - and the White House's rebuttal.  Rove noted that the pundit MSNBC side has blurred into the hard news side of NBC and that this was an outrageous incident.  Ingraham also said that the Tennessee GOP citzens' "Proud" video of Michelle Obama responding to her remark about being proud of her country for the first time in her life since her husband has been running for president is a big gift to Barack Obama.  Rove said that if you don't want your spouse to be an issue, don't have them making controversial remarks.  He said there is a positive role for spouses in the campaign and it is not to be negative about America.  Rove said the GOP brand has suffered in Congress.  He said a strong, positive conservative message, to be strong on the war on terror and that there should be a differentiation between conservative and other Democrats.

Ingraham talked with Marc Lamont Hill and Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation about UN investigation of racism in the United States.  Ingraham said that with all the human rights abuses in the world and the US's positive progress in this area, that this seems to be

Mary Katharine Ham of Townhall.com and Ingraham discussed the impact of John McCain's age on the presidential race.  Ham said she thought it was positive that McCain has appeared on shows such as "Saturday Night Live" to poke fun of his age to take the issue off the table as much as possible.

Ingraham and Francisco Hernandez, an immigration attorney, discussed the fact that some Texas mayors in border cities have objected to the border fence being erected in their communities.  Ingraham said that this if anything should be a case of eminent domain for our national security and that many Americans have been clamoring for.  Hernandez said that it is strictly a property rights issue.  They also discussed a raid on illegal immigrants in Iowa and its impact with Hernandez saying that the jobs need filling and Ingraham saying that the jobs can be filled by Americans and that he is advocating blanket amnesty.

Juan Williams and Ingraham discussed Barack Obama complaining about Fox News to cover for his impending loss in the Kentucky primary.  Williams said that Obama is playing to his elite base - and that he has been treated very well by Fox News - and that Hillary Clinton has gotten far harsher treatment by Fox News.  Ingraham said that Obama looks weak in all of this.

The show was fast paced, with lively debate on key political issues.
