The faux horror by Democrats over Senator Hillary Clinton's injection of the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy into an interview to justify the continuation of her flagging campaign is a sight to behold. Nowhere was this on bigger display than on May 23rd's "Countdown" with Keith Olbermann who has been, along with colleague Chris Matthews, an unbashed cheerleader, supporter and enabler of Senator Barack Obama's campaign - and has used it to boost the liberal media outlet's ratings. His latest screed will no doubt bring cheer to the legions who are looking for some way to throw the Clinton campaign under the bus and ensure she isn't a VP choice.
What is also deliciously ironic is that Olbermann includes how Clinton's remarks endanger Obama as the first African-American candidate, Senator John McCain and even Clinton herself - how protective. He then in a later segment comments on the release of McCain's medical records, his age and medical history to dispatch him as well - even as another Kennedy, Edward Kennedy, is suffering from a deadly brain tumor.
Olbermann had assists from such reliable partners as Jonathan Alter and Douglas Brinkley on the Clinton comments - and of course, the Obama campaign and proxies are releasing their own reaction - no doubt in relief - and probably hoping that her remarks don't get buried over the Memorial Day weekend.
Olbermann himself who offered less than artful or inadvertant remarks about the "cold blooded killers" which many interpreted as referring to our troops - and which Olbermann blamed on poor editing by his staff.
"Delicate soul grievously offended by Hillary's remark"
