"At least to Leno, Jindal says no" from the Washington Post reports on the nearest thing the GOP has to an Obma phenom - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
Jindal's appearance on "The Tonight Show" set tongues wagging about his potential as a running mate for Senator John McCain - and he certainly did a great job introducing himself in this venue with his background and achievements on full display - as well as his winning personality. Despite - or because of his youth and lesser experience (although as much as Barack Obama in many ways), he has much to offer. He is conservative, from a Southern state - and could make a statement about putting Louisiana's post-Katrina prospects on the national scene in a positive way. He is Roman Catholic and comes from a minority group aligned with the United States - and is the world's largest democracy - India - and someday the world's most populous country. It could negate Obama's "world view" self described cachet.
Jindal was in Washington touting his achievements - an area that Obama is somewhat weak or lacking in:
Today at lunch, Jindal will speak at the National Press Club on the topic "Bold Reform That Works." He will discuss his ethics reforms in Louisiana, continued post-Hurricane Katrina redevelopment efforts and proposals to reform the state's business taxes and its health-care, education and transportation systems.
