Osama Bin Laden Disgraces Prophet's Birthday, Islam

"Bin Laden Slams EU Over Prophet Cartoons" from AP reports that Osama bin Laden, in his first 5 minute video message of 2008, has condemned the Danish cartoons in which the Prophet Mohammed is portrayed with a bomb shaped turban - noting that the response would be the AK 47 that bin Laden held in the image on the video.  He also slammed the European Union, Pope Benedict XVI and the United States - although he didn't mention the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war.  This Thursday is the Prophet's birthday - and perhaps this is a birthday greeting from Osama bin Laden to the West.

The video is entitled “May Our Mothers Be Bereaved Of Us If We Fail to Help Our Prophet” – An Audio Speech by Usama bin Laden from As-Sahab, the media arm of al-Qaeda.

Bin Laden described the drawings as taking place in the framework of a "new Crusade" against Islam, in which he said the pope has played a "large and lengthy role."
