    Fallon's Fall-on Sword

"Head of US Forces in the Middle East Resigns" from AP reports that CentCom Commander Admiral William Fallon has resigned - or retired over disagreements over administration policies on Iran or Iraq - depending on sources quoted.  One tipping point appears to have been an article "A Man Between War and Peace" from Esquire that came out yesterday and alluded to such rifts - including with General David Petraeus whom he had described as a sycophant, according to earlier reports.

"Fallon didn't get it" by Max Boot of the Los Angeles Times

"Recent press reports suggesting a disconnect between my views and the president's policy objectives have become a distraction at a critical time and hamper efforts in the Centcom region," Fallon said in a statement Tuesday in which he announced his resignation as head of U.S. Central Command, arguably the most important in the U.S. military.
