Laura Ingraham hosted Gary Bauer, president of American Values.
Bauer said it was one of his proudest achievements to have hired Ingraham. He said the more conservative delegates at the convention, the better. He said that Congressman Boehner and a staff will set up the platform - and each state will have one man and one woman to serve on the platform design. He said that conservatives could have a big impact on that platform by getting in touch with party leaders, Congress people, etc.. Bauer said he asked if the candidate was McCain - and that they would support McCain if he tightened up on the immigration issue. Bauer said that McCain will pick a conservative running mate and that he is smart man and could work out. He said that Ed Rollins, Governor Huckabee's manager, said that conservatism in its current form is fading.
Bauer said that McCain is very strong on foreign policy, on economics and on social issues - and that conservatives could do a lot worse and could be happy with him. He said that the nominee will need every vote and would be foolish to overlook any voters.
