Laura Ingraham hosted Jonah Goldberg of National Review.
Goldberg said he at first thought it was a mistake for Romney to deliver his faith speech, but is more receptive now - and it depends on how it is received. He said that inviting the comparisons to JFK is problematic. Ingraham said that the speech is an implicit criticism of evangelicals. Goldberg said that it is a twist to say that faith is important - but don't look at a particular faith. Goldberg said that Romney looks too much like a car or yacht salesman - like a movie of the week man and he will have to do very well on this issue. Goldberg said that Romney is the good son but doesn't get credit for it. Goldberg said there is little suffering in Romney's story and that there isn't enough of a story line or narrative in his life and that he didn't let privilege ruin him - and that works against him. Ingraham said that she thinks Clinton will be the nominee. Goldberg said that after the driver's license gaffe by Clinton started to lead to the Clintons making more mistakes.
Goldberg said that this seems to be a weird political year and that there will be some rules of thumb that will be broken. Goldberg said that Giuliani has a pack of pundits in his pocket and that they will go ballistic if he doesn't get the nomination.
