Governor Mitt Romney With Laura Ingraham
Laura Ingraham hosted Governor Mitt Romney.
Romney said that as people get to know Mike Huckabee, they will find that he is wrong on taxes, illegal immigration. He said that he has flaws in spite of his reputation of being perfect. Romney said he was surprised at Giuliani's attacks on taxes, crime and immigration in Massachusetts. Romney said he lowered taxes - and that he left taxes at half the rate Giuliani did. Romney said he said no to driver's licenses to illegals, had police go into sanctuary cities and cracked down on illegals. Romney said that Giuliani are too much alike on family values on immigration, abortion, ethical lapses in their administrations.
Romney said the campaign shouldn't be based on religion. He said that he has always come down in his record on the side of life, on traditional marriage and has been against civil unions. He said he has always personally opposed abortion.
Romney said that a candidate has to expect slings and arrows from any news outlet, including Fox News. Romney said that he is getting attacks because his numbers have held up in Iowa and Massachusetts - and that Huckabee hasn't gotten scrutiny until now. Romney said he had appointed a judge who had a law and order background that inexplicably released someone with a violent background who went out and committed murder. He said for Giuliani to go after him about this judge is hypocritical, seeing how he had appointed Bernie Kerik who has been scandal plagued. Romney said he enjoys meeting so many people and that he enjoys engaging in the back and forth.
They're all sleazy. We know that Romney increased costs in Taxachusetts, whether he technically raised taxes or fees. We know that both of them have had very liberal positions before.
