"Internet access 'cut off' in order to silence Burma" from Times of London reports that the military regime in Burma has cut off public Internet access to prevent broadcast of the violence and protests to the rest of the world which has raised concerns over the junta's governance.
Internet cafes were closed and the help desk at the main Internet service provider did not answer its telephones to explain why there was no access, the Reuters news agency reports.
Central Rangoon is said to have been sealed off by soldiers and police in anticipation of further protests today and 'danger zones' are reported to be in place around key protest sites.
