    Proactive Prophylactic Mastectomies A Trend?

    "Cancer Free at 33, But Weighing a Mastectomy" from the NY Times reports on young women who are considered genetically at risk are weighing the option for pre-emptive mastectomies before they potentially develop breast cancer.  This situation presents a quandary for families where a number of females share the genetic risk and have varying opinions on the best course.  It also presents potential guilt for the parents who have passed on the lethal gene to their daughters, complicating the emotional aspects of this very difficult decision.
