Huckabee: New Media Darling, Social Conservative - Needs Foreign Policy Experience In War Time

"Viva Huckabee" from TNR's The Plank discusses the second place finish for former Governor Mike Huckabee in the Iowa Straw Poll and Fundraiser - noting that with bare bones resources - i.e. no buses relative to big spending Governor Mitt Romney or Senator Sam Brownback, he scored second in the poll - and probably also scored some of the $35 tickets required to vote - since he had only bought 1,800 himself for supporters. 

While it seems surprising to some, it seems he has been a regular on a wide range of radio and television shows where his excellent communication style and down home friendly manner has made him a new media darling.  How far this will take him is the question - while he is solid on the social conservative issues - he has little to no foreign policy or military experience at time the country is at war.  He may wind up being a valuable VP candidate who could pick up the cred to run later for the top job - although no one would probably be willing to tell that to the "We Like Mike" crowd - and that is something that Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney are short on as well - so who knows?
