"If you didn't like Darfur, you'll hate Baghdad"
"For top general in Iraq, role is mixed blessing" by John Burns of the NY Times reports on General David Petraeus reflections on the daunting task of taming Baghdad and beyond - with hopeful signs of normal life sprinkled among the insurgent bombings. He is realistic about the time it will take and the difficulties that must be overcome - and the two ends of Washington he is making his report to in September - both the detractors and the boosters.
It would seem that his words will not satisfy either totally - and then will be recast to serve the ends of the particular person's perspective - there will be no easy answers.
