"Arab School's Peace Goals" from the NY Post reports on the new Arab themed Khalil Gibran High School due to open in New York City with 44 students and five teachers. The school has been in the news due to an incident involving its principal and the production of a "Intifada NYC" t-shirt that seems at odds with the alleged peace curriculum of the school which includes trips to the Middle East, internships with Muslim lawyers and community service.
A group called "Stop the madrassa" is looking to close the school due to separation of church and state - indeed - are there schools of other faiths in the system?
Principal Dhabah "Debbie" Almontaser - who backtracked this week from comments condoning the "Intifada NYC" T-shirts that are sold by activists with ties to her - insists political dogma will not be on the curriculum.
