Powerline: Was Thompson Actively Lobbying For Abortion Group Or On The Fringes?

"Thompson lobbied for abortion rights" from Breitbart's reports that presumptive GOP presidential nominee Fred Thompson lobbied the administration of President George H.W. Bush on behalf of the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association to ease abortion regulations when he worked for the law firm Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn.  Apparently this has been documented in the organization's minutes and in recollections of several people.

Whether he was merely consulted for a partner handling the work or was more directly involved, he says he has no memory of the work.  He can always use this or, like Governor Romney, can say he was always against abortion, even as his firm was involved or he got money for it.  With former NYC Mayor Giuliani as pro-choice, it may be a case of relative involvement in the abortion issue that will affect which candidate appeals most to the social conservative base - sort of a six degrees of separation decision.

It once again demonstrates that liberal leaning groups are taking his potential candidacy seriously if this is all coming out now.
