Impeachable Sources Finger Bush, Cheney
According to a poll by the American Research Group (AMG) almost half (46%) of the respondants polled favored the impeachment of President Bush by the House of Representatives, with over half (54%) favoring impeachment of Vice-President Cheney. (Full results of the survey are here.)
The grounds for impeachment, according to Article II of the Constitution are "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" by a simple majority vote in the House of Representatives. It would then go tot he Senate where a two-thirds vote would be needed to remove either the president or vice-president from office. 79 cities have passed impeachment resolutions and Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a regular presidential candidate, has garnered ten signers to his impeachment bill.
One has to wonder how a Senator Clinton, who has been on both sides of this issue as an inspiring lawyer on the Watergate proceedings, and then seeing her own husband, President Bill Clinton under the impeachment gun, would react - knowing what goes around comes around. In a way, a presidential election looming may temper this, unless something ominous breaks open to provoke such a move.
Rep John Conyers danced around the issue on ABC's "This Week"...
