    Iraq Champs Of Asia Soccer!

"Mesopotamia: The Champions of Asia" by Omar at Iraq The Model reports on the fantastic news that Iraq's Mesopotamia team has won the Asia cup soccer match - something akin to the US Super Bowl in fan interest.  Just as sports fans worldwide, the Iraqis sat in front of their televisions and miraculously, some electricity came on.  Omar provides a summary of the game and the joy within him and its broader implications are palpable - Iraqis are winners after so much loss in so many horrific ways.  Sports can be a metaphor for life and if this victory raises hearts in Iraq, it is so well deserved for a long suffering nation.

    Omar says:

May our politicians learn from the players and from the fans who are painting a glorious image of unity and national pride, and let the terrorists know that nothing can kill the spirit of the sons of the immortal Tigris and Euphrates.

The fear is gone, the curfew is ignored, tonight Iraq knows only joy...
