"General Pace retires as Joint Chiefs Chair" from the AP reports that Defense Secretary Robert Gates won't be reappointing General Peter Pace as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, given that he has been chair for the past six years - and no doubt, given that it will be a more difficult confirmation in the Senate.
Interesting who the administration is willing to spend political capital on - such as Attorney General Alberto Gonzales rather than a hero such as General Pace. It would seem after listening to the Democrats at the debate last week that Pace would be grilled about his views on gays in the military and, of course, on the war in Iraq.
