    Bloomberg Breaks With GOP: Will There Be Any Elephant Stampede?

    AP's "NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Leaves GOP" reports, not surprisingly, that NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg is leaving the Republican Party and is unaffiliated at this point - although this will stir up speculation of a self-financed, independent presidential run, given his estimated $5 billion wealth - and his media connections via his company.  It will upend odds makers and which candidates it will hurt most - similar to the anticipated entrance of Fred Thompson - which one ironically has to believe may have inspired Bloomberg to initiate these steps. 

    The question is - will Senator Chuck Hagel and others who are moving more centrist, also consider this option - especially considering the straits that the GOP is perceived to be in?
