AP's "NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Leaves GOP" reports, not surprisingly, that NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg is leaving the Republican Party and is unaffiliated at this point - although this will stir up speculation of a self-financed, independent presidential run, given his estimated $5 billion wealth - and his media connections via his company. It will upend odds makers and which candidates it will hurt most - similar to the anticipated entrance of Fred Thompson - which one ironically has to believe may have inspired Bloomberg to initiate these steps.
The question is - will Senator Chuck Hagel and others who are moving more centrist, also consider this option - especially considering the straits that the GOP is perceived to be in?
