"Sadr accuses US of Dividing Iraq through Violence" in Sunday's Washington Post reports that Mahdi Army kingpin Muqtada al-Sadr has accused the US of stoking violence and urged his Mahdi Army and Iraqi security forces not to fight each other in Diwaniyah. He stopped short of calling on his forces to rise up against the US forces, despite calling them occupiers - no doubt getting in the way of his own dreams of domination.
Sadr, who owes his own liberation, as well as that of Shia, to the US forces, seems content to play behind the scenes and stoke up violence himself rather than work toward peace.
